On this tour, you'll learn, in a highly entertaining yet thorough way, about the modernization that Madrid underwent beginning in the 18th century. We'll visit Cibeles and Puerta de Alcalá, the city's two most emblematic monuments, and the most beautiful and beloved park among Madrid residents, El Retiro Park. We'll walk along Paseo del Prado, designed by the Enlightenment of Charles III and now part of the Landscape of Light, which has earned Madrid a UNESCO World Heritage status.
But first, we'll walk along Gran Vía, the grand project of the early 20th century to make Madrid an international capital, and through the Malasaña and Chueca neighborhoods, which represent the most modern and cosmopolitan Madrid.
A tour of Madrid's monuments, parks, and two of its most important avenues, as well as two of its most iconic neighborhoods. We'll also discuss the city's gastronomy and cultural offerings, and we'll recommend other things to do to enjoy Madrid life. All with the best attitude, a sense of humor, and an accessible way of telling the story. With this tour, you'll understand the city that is Madrid today.
* If you take our two free tours, you'll get a tremendously comprehensive look at Madrid's history and identity.
